BaoBeiTalk collects nothing about you or your child. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Nothing you or your child does in the app is sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent — we run no server.
What stays on your device
All of it. Specifically:
- Voice recordings. Anything you record in your own voice is written to your device's app storage and never leaves it. We cannot hear it, retrieve it or restore it. Deleting the app deletes the recordings.
- Your family's own sentences and anything typed into "Ask for something".
- The weekly count of which languages were tapped, and which words were heard. This is counted on the device so the app can tell you which language went quiet. It is attached to no identifier and reaches nobody.
- Your settings — language, voice, speaking speed, the daily limit.
The only time the app uses the network
Buying or restoring a subscription. The app makes no other network request; it contains no analytics library, no advertising library and no web view.
When you subscribe, the purchase is handled by Apple and validated through RevenueCat, who provide our subscription infrastructure. To do that, RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier it generates itself, your device and app version, and Apple's purchase receipt. It does not receive your name, your email, your child's name, your recordings, or anything your child does in the app. Apple's own handling of the purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy, and RevenueCat's by theirs.
If you never subscribe, the app never makes a network request at all.
Children
BaoBeiTalk is made for children aged one to four and is listed in Apple's Kids Category. It contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, no external links, no chat and no way for a child to contact anyone. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. Settings and anything involving money sit behind a gate that requires a deliberate three-second press, which a toddler's tap will not open.
Notifications
If you opt in to a "ready to come back in?" reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device by iOS. There is no push server and no push token. Nothing about it leaves the phone, and it never mentions a purchase.
Microphone
The microphone is used only while you are recording, and only after you tap record. It is never listened to at any other time.
Deleting your data
Because it is all on your device, deleting the app removes everything. Recordings can also be deleted individually, or all at once, in Settings.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date above changes with it.
